Well, I just learned a great technique from Dara Klein, an amazing NYC makeup artist, and the best part is that it takes two minutes to pull off. The key is to use a cream or gel liner (she likes Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, Lancôme Ink Artliner, or Face Stockholm Cake Eyeliner), instead of a regular pencil since they blend really easily, which is crucial when creating a smoky eye. Here’s how to work with these formulas:

1. First, dip a small stiff brush into the liner and smudge on back of hand

2. Sketch the brush into lash line quickly as these tend to dry fast

3. Use tip of ring finger and gently smudge up onto lid.

4. If you want a more dramatic effect rim your lower lash lines as well.
